Frankfurt 2011: The general thread

This will be the general English thread for planning and announcements ahead of the upcoming AirlineSim Convention in Frankfurt!

As a reminder: The two-day event will take place in Frankfurt on August the 20th and 21st 2011.

I’m opening this thread with a pointer towards our Call for Participation in German language here: http://community.air…-participation/

Abstract in English: The second day of the event is the AirlineSim Convention, an event BY the team and the players FOR the team and the players. It’s all about communication: Direct contact to the developers and the team, presentations about any (really, any) AirlineSIm-related topic and casual networking among fellow players. Although we - the team - take care of organizing the event, we still rely on your input! We depend on voluntary speakers who present on stage! As I said, this can be largely about anything: Livery design, feature ideas, interesting statistics about the game…whatever comes to mind!

If you are interested, please let us know! Either contact us here on this thread or via any of our other channels. If in doubt, support@airlinesim.aero will always get you through to the right people!

Important: We are aware that the event takes place in Germany and as such the predominant share of visitors will stem from German-speaking countries. Please don’t let this keep you from handing in your contribution! There will be plenty of fans around who are fluent in English and we will be glad to host international guests! If you still worry about the language barrier or if you wish to contribute but not to present by yourself, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can work something out!

Independent of whether you want to participate as a speaker or a regular guest, please don’t forget to sign up HERE.

We got a preliminary schedule ready for our Frankfurt event!

Day 1: Regular meet-up (August 20th)

  • Initial meeting point: 10:30 at the “Stadion” train station. It’s just one station from the airport, so you can get their easily by public transport or by car. From their we take the cars to either of FRAs runways for a short spotting session.

  • 12:00 Lunch at the "Waldgeist", a restaurant serving XXL "Schnitzel" (escalope) and other dishes in enormous sizes.

  • 14:00 Spotting and main event at the airport of Frankfurt (details to be announced)

  • 17:00 End of the day in Sachsenhausen featuring German cider and local cuisine. Open end.

Day 2: Convention (August 21st)

The convention part of the event will commence around 10:00. The location will be announced as soon as we got more or less concrete participation numbers. The event usually ends around 16:00 to 18:00 o’clock, but since the location doesn’t change during the day, you can arrive and leave as you wish.
