Furious Compitition

I would like to hear some commentary on how people have been going after nearly 3 months in Gatow.

Please can somebody shed light on how competition has effected your airlines growth in the new world?

Hi John, I've set up my airline in New Zealand, its a small market and originally I was doing well but as bigger airlines with bigger base markets expand I'm just going backwards and loosing more market share. Its tough but I don't know enough about the world to open an airline anywhere else.

Hi

This server is by far my worst experience on AS!

Hi John, I've set up my airline in New Zealand, its a small market and originally I was doing well but as bigger airlines with bigger base markets expand I'm just going backwards and loosing more market share. Its tough but I don't know enough about the world to open an airline anywhere else.

Don’t compete with the big boys (yet). See my Airline “Inter Con” where I only fly <700 Mile segments using Dash-400 prop jets. I’ve got great loads, good IL, good profit due to efficient planes, and over 1000 slots - the most important thing.

Wait for some of the big boys to keel over from old planes, other big boys out-competing them, and swoop in and grab their space. I can assume there aren’t many NZed airlines…so focus on Domestic first. Though since, I think, Aus-NZed is open…you’re in the same positon as me in the USA. Focus on small, short, efficient routes. My planes average 8.5 segments/day. How many do yours do?

I've got a small yet profitable cargo business running.  I've been adjusting prices a lot, but that's part of the fun.  If gatow is so bad, what would you consider a good one?  I'm thinking about opening up another cargo business on another server.  For some reason, I just love cargo...  Maybe it's because cargo doesn't get drunk and complain about the service.  :)

Yesterday, I changed for the first time the pricing of two routes. Loads on these went below 75%., the average is still above 90.

Ressources as aircrafts and slots are tricky to handle.

During the next few weeks we will see some more of these fast-growing airlines going to fail. This will reopen new spaces on the map.

Go for the less served market then you'll be fine. When people think of opening a new company, they'll usually think of those in developed countries. Unfortuantely those market are already full so you'll have a hard time there. In contrast, if you choose those funny restricted country in middle of nowhere. You might have a hard time to study for the routes. But eventually you'll dominate the market with ease.

I'm averaging abouut a 90% SLF on my short haul routes in North America but my fleet growth is slow as I only make enough turnover for 1 new plane a week and there is a lack of older ones going cheap on the market.
