Just whilst I’m having ideas, one to put forward. In reality, certainly in the UK/Europe, tour operators/travel agents will bulk buy flights and/or contract airlines to provide a service to certain destinations seasonally.
Would it be possible to implement such a system in AS? Perhaps a tender process where tour operators take bids for flight provisions?
Just to flesh this out a bit, my idea for how this could work would be something along the lines of:
5 days out (so not to mess with the ORS and give time to adjust schedules), tour operators specify the destinations they require for the next 7 days. Operators specify the service they prioritise (eg: low price; comfort; business class availability etc). Any applicable airline can then place a bid to operate these flights, the winning bidder being the one that comes in with the lowest bid, that closest matches the tour operators requirements.
Something like that could be fun?
