I think that everyone knows, that passengers pay for tickets in advance (before departure), so the money as revenue comes to the airline’s bank account in advance too.
I propose to consider two options:
1) Web sales (direct sales).
Ticket sales through the travel agency network (like BSP system – Billing Supplement Payment) ==Web sales rules===
The money comes directly, at ones at the bask account of Airline, when a passenger makes a transaction (pay ticket).
The cost of banking services - 1-2% from fare.
==Selling through the travel agent network rules=== The money comes 3 times month (for example - dates: 2, 12, 22)
Cost of services travel agency network – is about 4-5% from fare.(Bank and agents services - is the indirect costs).Unfortunately, no one Airline can’t function in conditions when all money for passenger tickets comes after flight departure.)))
I offer still:
Create the model “depth of sales-tickets” - 180 days (as well as in real life).
It is possible as option when the Airline independently establishes sale terms on own flights (30, 60, 90 days before departure) Your thoughts?
P.S. I’ve some ideas for passengers traffic modeling and fares applicable.
since the actual flights are only entered three days in advance and thus booked up to three days in advance, this wouldn’t work. also, the server load for calculating not only the next three days but the next 180 days would fry the servers in the first cycle
so, I actually do like the idea, but I think it’s impossible to implement.
Yes, I understand, unfortunately ((( Our team creates a local airport simulator, but in there the actual simulations tkt-sales will be possible, the server must process the all data without problems (about 50000 transactions per day - it’s not a lot. ), I think, that in airlinesim may more than 1.5 billion transaction per day )))
Continued. Overdraft bank charges. Apllicable in case of negative balance. Limit overdraft may be - $20 000 000.Cost (interest) overdraft – 10-15% per annum.
Well, I do like the idea behind this but must actually say that I don’t think it will bee too useful for bringing AS ahead. It will make the whole model more complicated and clumsy, draw resources from the servers that could be employed otherwise and in the end hinder the development of new, more urgently needed features.
I think, It will make the whole model more uniquely and more realistic! ))) I now, that it difficult for developer, but it very actually, but I’v can’t doubt that today’s technologies make it possible to do much.
you propose to give every starter a capital of 30 million instead of 10 million, at real world interest rates.
At this moment airlines need a lot of equity before they can obtain a much smaller loan, and the interest in Tempelhof is currently 2% per week, or 180% per annum
I know you meant overdraft… but an overdraft limit of 20 million would actually allow new airlines to spend 30 million instead of 10 million. And an interest rate of 15-20% per year is about… 0.3% per week. That is like the proverbial free lunch if you compare it with the 2% per week you pay on normal bank loans
Wright, but in real life overdrafts can be obtained if the cash-flow is high, and minimum 3 months operations after startup.
In addition, the overdraft-size always calculated depending cash flow / month, usually no more than 75%.Thus, the monthly cash flow (revenue) should be at least 26 000 000 (if request 20 000 000). The period of the overdraft repayment - one month.
I like the idea of more realistic payment schedules but I have to say I honestly don’t think it would work well "in game"
Firstly the days are too random, and this could lead to problems with the leasing firms etc if you’ve just paid a large fuel bill and can’t afford your leasing payment.
Secondly, booking flights 180 days in advance offers very little flexibility, I can guarantee that you’ll change something and the bookings will need to be recalculated, also how does this work with introducing new flights on a short term basis. If I lease an aircraft and need it to wait 6months before its profitable I’ll lose alot of money!
Third, how do you calculate if it’s a direct sale or through an agent? Or do you just split it 50/50? Which would kind of make the whole differentiation pointless
A better solution to your fuel and fee paying suggestion is paying once a week either on Sundays or on the companies "end of business week" you could also delay the payment by one week, so the end of this week you pay for last weeks fuel.
Honestly though I don’t think these changes have a big affect on the game itself.
))) No problems depth of tickets-sale. The Airline is free to change the schedule and cancel flights, but passengers need to warn necessary, in this case no penalties for cancellation flights.
For sale-tickets may be to aplly a random variable, usually sold 60% web, 40 agency.
But there is no chance to bool more than 3 days in advance as this would increase the possible flights exponential and would blow up the database. The demand is calculated on a daily bases and does not have passenger travelling on a specific date.
AFAIK some ticket bought via other airlines/travel agencies connected to clearing houses - the ticket sales will be awarded to the airlines when the flight is done already.
