Inflight Service on Short Flights in Business Class

Hello fellow Airliners:

I'm currently strugelling with a challenge on short routes under 700 km (e.g. London-Paris). While I equipped my planes with seats that offer a 5 bar comfort in both economy and business, I'm unable to offer a 5 bar onboard service in Business Class. I can spend more than 50 Dollars on Champagne, Shrimp Cocktails, Glossy Magazines and porcelaine plates - still I only get 3 bars in service rating. The reason for this seems to be that for a rating of 4 and more bars passgengers expect you to offer warm food, which is not possible under 700 km.

It would be really nice to have a fix on the "service expectation" of business passengers on shorter flights.

I offer only 1 green bar in C on flights shorter than 800 km, anything else just gets too expensive. I can get 4 green bars in Y for just 6.50 AS$. You can not get 5 green bars in neither C nor Y on flights shorter than 800 km. it's not just you, it's everyone.

I know that it's impossible, thats why I was suggesting to "fix" it :)  - One might note that of course that service expectance is lower on shorter flights but this shouldn't be represented by the bars but instead by the distance - in the same way one can get a 5 bar rating on a short route with a "smaller" seat compared to a longer distance.

Why should it be "fixed" as all airlines can reach the same number of green bars only.

In it would be fixed to possible 5 bars all airlines will increase their service-level and that's it.

Well doesn't it seem to be a "flaw" when investing an amount of 30$ on a 3 hour flight will make a passenger more happy then a 60$ on a one hour connection?! To me this just seems odd.

Also , isn't there more than "one" way to play this game ? Some players prefer to offer low prices, others do better service and some try to optimize utility and scheduling. Personally I talways try to get a 99 rating on direct connections. For some airports I can only use very small planes. As these are usually ranked lower, I try to compensate that with other factors...

Maybe the "flaw" is intentional, in other words intentional to NOT be able to offer things like full meals etc. on under-800 km routes, in order to keep things somewhat realistic. Those are usually routes with 60-75 minute duration on a 737/A320, and in no country in the world you would get full meal even in F cass on such short flights. On flights of 250-900 miles (400-1440 km) Delta offers just "savory and healthy snacks" and on flights of less than 250 miles (400 km) just light snacks such as cookies and pretzels. http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/onboard-experience/first-class.html#eat

ah... and BTW here is emirates in flight service in C class for a short DXB-BAH flight (500 km) http://cdn.ek.aero/downloads/ek/pdfs/food-menu/2015/05/EK0833-DXBBAH-J-23B.pdf?h=88d24eb379120d80

That one made me laugh, since I was a Flight Attendant a couple of years back working for a big Swiss airline. They indeed offered hot meals in F on short-haul flights (~45 to ~50 min), such as ZRH-FRA, GVA-NCE, ZRH/GVA-CDG.
