Islander / Trislander / Do228 should only require single pilot to operate

Yet are currently listed in the game as requiring 2 cockpit crew, unlike Cessna planes

Thanks again, we’ll look into it!

This is probably due to FAA rules: (eCFR :: 14 CFR Part 121 Subpart M -- Airman and Crewmember Requirements (FAR Part 121 Subpart M)) Pararagraph 121.385(c) which requires 2 pilot operation.

Yet Cessna aircrafts in the game do only require 1 cockpit crew only

The game is just inconsistent in considering them as Part 121 or Part 135. As far as my understanding, the cargo should be able to do 135 as a single-pilot operation, but I believe the pax version would most likely be under 121, which is a dual-pilot operation based on how most people schedule their flights, so the new Cessna 408 passenger might be wrong to have a single pilot requirement in game. There are a couple of charts you can follow from the FAA to determine whether you can be part 121 or 135.

I assume people put more than 9 seats on the 408 in game

I guess what might be possible is that the minimum crew needed in aircraft information page show only the number of pilots needed to operate the aircraft if the aircraft have no seats, but if passengers put more than 9 seats inside the aircraft in cabin configuration then it can say in the cabin configuration page that number of pilot needed = 2 just like how it currently say the required FA number?

For AirlineSim purposes, using the limit of 9 pax and the “no jet” criterion to decide whether one or two pilots are needed should suffice.

But we’ll need additional data either way…I figure one shouldn’t be able to fly an ATR72 with 8 pax and a single pilot, no?

Well, I think ATR has more than 7500lb payload  I think the 7500lb is the max payload limit, not how much you are carrying.

There should probably be a minimum crew requirement based on the airframe anyway. Not all planes are single crew certificated

Just to bring my thread back to life, at least regarding Islander https://forums.airlinesim.aero/t/britten-norman-islander-needs-some-love/15826/11

A single-pilot op would help immensely in Alaska / Canadian Arctic / Polynesian markets where it is impossible to fly other small planes profitably

I mean its not data but I do recall Aurigny used to use single pilot ops for their Trislander fleet back in the day.

I used to work at an airport for awhile so u couldn’t really avoid planes XDD  cant say I ever saw any ATR42/72 series that wasn’t multi crew
