Longhaul

Turkey National Airways have a good fleet, I want to expand to long haul flights when is a good place to start doing long haul destinations

You should at least double your number of flights before you start longhaul, better triple. With a longhaul aircraft its easy to make 100 000 AS$ loss for each flight. Check if your financial status can sustain that

Agreed to some extent. But it is more about your business model. Do you want to feed the long haul with short haul or with other long haul? I aquired 30 757s and started around 20 long haul destinations from LGW while only having about 12 A320s to feed the operation with domestic and European flights. I have also had 3000 regional departures per week from KUL and started LHR, FRA, AMS, BRU and CDG and all where loss making. Long haul can be very loss making and as you said a flight can easily lose 100k but they can also earn lots of money. My daily LGW to MIA flight on an A340-500 earns me 70k and the return flight earns the same. If I would play on a long haul favorable world it would have made even more. Long haul is a gamble and constantly needs to be checked up upon as it could be expensive if no attention is payed.

70k DB II Or V?

70k DB II Or V?

What do you mean?

I'd guess he's talking about contribution margins in flight costing.

Yes, whether 70k is the Money from dbII OR from the total dB V
