Hi,
as a title i have a question.
Why the maintenance ratio is false? I explain.
I’ve 2 planes (DC8-62) for long range and the ratio is 171% well…almost 1 day at week I need to delete flights because the condition is under 49 %…what is possible? The planes are old model but the are new…
It depends how they are scheduled. If you have scheduled them for 6 days in a row with no maintenance, and then a 24 gap to catch up on maintenance then this will not work. An aircraft needs an engineer at least every 48 hours. I would highly recommend scheduling a 4/5 hour maintenance gap every 24 hours.
Maintanance is done when the Airplane on the Ground for more then 2 hrs. And you must have the money so the maintanance can be done. On the other hand you should shedule a maintanance window each day. If you shedule only maintanance every 3 days or so it will not be enough even if the ratio tells you that you have more then 100%. Each flight depending on the length of the flight, the flights before the airplane accumulates "damage points" and they are increasing the longer no maintanance has been done.So in your case i think you are flying to long in one go without maintanance....
I need to delete flights because the condition is under 49 %...what is possible?
The condition of older aircraft tend to deteriorate faster compared to new aircraft. It is important to consider this fact while scheduling such planes. The condition can get even worse depending of the profiles flown on a daily basis. I know for myself that I can schedule an MD-80 for eight to ten short flights a day but such an aircraft urgently needs a visit in the hangar for several hours before the plane is "back to 100%" at the start of her new daily program. The high number of cycles also result in a higher amount of "damage points" collected.
Hi…thank’s for reply.
Well…i’ll re check my schedules, i’ve this problem with Amsterdam - tokyo.
I must consider to split the scheduler in 2 planes to cover all week…
Thank’s a lot
