One of the complaints thus far in the aircraft market is that players miss out on cheap aircraft if they can’t view the market constantly. One idea would be for there to be a minimum amount of time for the auction to last. So perhaps once an aircraft is listed it will be available to purchase for a minimum of 24 hours. This would allow anyone in any timezone on any schedule the opportunity to buy a plane.

It would also allow players listing aircraft to make sure their auction was seen by more people and thus get the true market price (if the above was not implemented I’d like to see it as an option when selling an airplane for this very reason).

Downside of this is that each incremental bid resets the clock and could result in listings taking days in the system’s current form. It’d be easier if there was an ebay style bidding system where you could input the max price you’d offer and the auction can then run it’s coarse over the next 24 hours.
I guess I should have been more clear. I like the current 1 hour clock reset for each bid, but just propose having the whole auction take a minimum of 24 hours.
I dont mind the way things are now, yes I know its hard and I have missed out on a lot of chances for cheap planes, but at the same time I have been lucky too. A min auction time I think will only cause the prices to sky rocket, the E-Bay auction seems like a good idea…just my two cents
but you need to take into consideration for interest rates. If you dont have securities then you face a very high interest rate…but yes I have seen some low prices…
You said that some people get planes for cheap…however…you might look at the costs and say "wow thats cheap" but when you go to buy it…without security you are paying a high interest rate which might make the aircraft unafordable. So because of that not everyone gets the chance to get aircarft for cheap. Yes you can lease an aircraft for cheap, but I think thats where some changes can be made…I hope you understand my point…I can never seem to explain myself easily.
Even if the players are paying lots in interest, some planes were being sold very cheaply, and as you said, they could be leased for basically nothing. The problem is that if you want the prices to be decided by market forces (which the AS team clearly does based on their decision to overhaul the aircraft market), those market forces (players bidding) need an opportunity to act. Right now players simply don’t have the opportunity due to the potentially small time window
Yes but with the new system when you go to sell an aircraft, you get the choice of a price to sell it as, so really I think it all comes down to luck…which I have none of…
You have the choice of what price to sell it at… up to the stated value. If its market value is higher then the stated value, though, it might end up selling for for less than some players would have paid for it, because they missed the auction. Luck as you say.
