New Company, New Player!

Hey all! I stumbled upon this amazing game earlier this morning! I have managed to learn most of the basics and understand how it works.

My airport is located in Ottawa, Canada. I was wondering if there are any specific strategies so i can be somewhat decent at this game?

One of the main things you want to try and do is build up a hub. Mainly this means that you need to time your flights to arrive at your hub airport at or around the same time, and then leave enough time for passengers to transfer to other flight. The amount of time needed can be seen on the airport information page under "minimum transfer time". This does reduce the use of your aircraft but can help you increase your loads and yield significantly enough to offset this.

That’s the most used strategy.

You can also use a point-to-point strategy, like Southwest Airlines does. You don’t concentrate your operations at hubs.

Ottowa looks like a good choice - not the biggest airport, so you have less competition and lots of free slots. I would try building a regional hub and start by leasing turboprops like the Bombardier. Don’t open too many offices at once, build up the traffic then add offices one by one.

Thanks guys!! I’m at the FORNEBU game world. It seems that i have some competition in that airport!!!

I have set up a Cessna 208A Caravan that flys between Ottawa and Toronto Pearson and it seems that the flights in only one direction are fully booked while the others are empty. Should i change my strategy for this plane?

Or a more complex approach. Do not use the same plane to connect. Do cross connect.

How am i supposed to compete with 554 departures from the same airport? :S

There are some giants that dominate the market, which is fine, but how does a little guy like me compete with these people?

554 departures are not that much …

I’ve had to restart. I was going way too fast and didn’t concider in some important variables(as i ignored they even existed).
