New game World??

Hey guyz

I would really like to know when the next game server would be released because alot of players want to start fresh.

Hi,

this view, however, not all like that. I started on Fornebu, as this was just launched recently. I thought it was absolutely boring, because I could do what I wanted and the planes were always filled immediately. Did then the company therefore disbanded although they acted very successfully. Somehow I missed because of the stimulus. I find it much more interesting to establish itself in an existing world. It should also be much more realistic. Think about it.

Stapleton shows, that it is only "boring" for maybe 1,2 months. After that, everything is going extremely busy and the game is hard to play! …

I would also support a fresh server! But maybe, we can put one of the existing to ZERO, so there are not mre and more by the way and things start to confuse me!

So YES, empty game world, but NOT necessarily a new one!

ridiculous idea to put one existing world to zero, especially for people who have established an airline there.

why don’t start on an existing world? there are some servers that give you so much opportunities to start a good business

I don’t like the idea of new game worlds every 2 months either. It seems to me that sometimes when someone misses a new world by some weeks, there is a want for a new one. And if those people don’t suceed on that one - please give me another fresh one etc…

(no offense to the starter of this topic who maybe has different reasons)

Hi,

the start of Stapleton this past summer has shown a few things…

Within two weeks after the new game world started, Stapleton was fully booked with 1200 accounts. So there is a demand for new servers.

Four months after Stapleton started, the server is stlll fully booked. When I look around however, I see several airlines that find it difficult to survive. Some are already on the verge of collapsing. If my airline had problems, I would not make a fresh start in Stapleton, because slots are disappearing rapidly. We shall have to wait and see how many accounts will remain a few months from now.

When Stapleton started, Tempelhof lost half of it’s accounts. I don’t know how many people stopped playing on the other servers and moved to Stapleton, but in the end a game world must have enough accounts to remain profitable. It may be fun to operate a fleet of 500 planes… but if there are only a few active accounts left, AS will end that game world.

So if you want to keep a game world running forever, you will have to make sure old servers are inviting to new players (things like slot availability) and that new players have a chance to survive (perhaps by giving them a bigger starting capital).

I think, we need another Kind of Serverconfigurations.

1200 accounts are clearly too much, as we see at Stapleton. In addition, the accounts say nothing about the holdings.

So I think that one could halve the maximum number of account quietly, to max. Allow 2-2 Holdings per account.

You could try and see if they also limited the playing time, and the server periodically resets every 6 or 12 months.

As a small compensation, we could dispense with some restrictions on the air rights - or to declare much more open country as an investment

  • So that a degree of expansion is always possible - or a shift from a crowded into a "quieter" area.

For these rounds could possibly enhance the alliance system, for example, that IL is only possible with Alliance members to promote team play.

For this purpose a separate Global Statistics, which Ally is how successful, how many rounds "won", etc.

Whatever, one Thing is much more important to me in a moment:

I pay money for the game, and I expect that I can play when I have time - and not when the server is not even random lags.

The last days of Stapleton had nothing to do with gameplay, I honestly takes 30 minutes to set up a schedule for a DH4 …

(No, not because I’m too stupid, but because I had to wait after each click, up to 5 minutes.)

Where is the Problem - when it is turned off, and how many credits will be credited?

Regards,

Roger

EDIT: Sorry for the German language, I didn’t see that this is the English part of the forum

No, guys, that’s not going to work. Those that just had their posts unapproved, please either go back and put in the English version yourselves or delete the posts. This area is clearly marked as English only, please put up the effort yourselves rather than to rely on others to do it for you…

While this may, in part, be true, one also has to look at how many of the users on this servers are new players (never played before) compared to players that simply jumped server, or started playing the second server in addition to what they already had. A good portion is probably people that are leaving from one server to play on another. This means that the income from this player merely moves to somewhere else, meaning no change in the amount of money coming in. However, this new server needs to be bought and maintained, so more money is now spent.

Bottom line is, if there are many servers that aren’t close to their capacity, then there isn’t any real need for new servers.

That being said, you do raise a few good points in the rest of the post, some of which have been kicked around in many team meetings as well. They’re not as easy to implement as one might think on first look. Still, that doesn’t mean it’s something the team doesn’t care about, it’s just hard to find a workable solution that doesn’t penalize anyone.

Well, TimS

Tell me how translate my Post, you’ve deleted it, without any chance to translate.

Please show me the the part of the rules wich says the wie have tp use englisch

Roger

The fact that there is a separate German forum should be a clue. It’s German only over there, English only over here. The only parts of this forum where there are overlaps are the official forums. This has been announced very clearly back when we moved to these forums. I’ll restore your post (they aren’t deleted, merely hidden, I thought you (the posters) would still be able to see and edit them), but you’ll need to put in a translation yourself. If by tomorrow evening I don’t see English (and only English) in the 3 posts above, I will delete them for good.

Thank you, TimS

Now I can try to translate it…

Hi Roger,

half of the players are German. That’s why you get a German general forum, a German suggestion forum and a German community forum. The other half of the players are a mixed bunch of different nationalities. Many of us aren’t even English. But English is our common language. Why ? Because English is the Latin of the 21st century. Not Spanish, not Russian, not Swedish, and not German.

Using any other language but English on a forum called "English forum" is not… elegant. Even if there are no explicit rules about it.

That was my polite answer. You would be offended if I gave you my old and grumpy answer

I definately think a new server would be fun. I can understand why you would not want to create continually new servers due to funding. It also doesn’t seem fair to those who have accounts in an old server to just reset it on them.

I really feel a resetting server every 6 months, on an over clocked basis, or even with additional starting capital would be more noob friendly and calm these discussions down. The next server would you please declare it will be resetable. You could even use it as a testing server for major changes

It just doesn’t make enough sense - economically! Setting up a new gameworld does always create an initial stimulus, but does also cost the existing ones (paying) customers. So, most of the time you do not generate that many new customers, but just “move” them to another world.

I am not "that" involved in planning processes regarding new gameworlds, but I think its safe to say it will be worth every bit of your patience to rather wait for the next major update for AS instead of a new game world.

Hi,

I tend to agree with Dita.

My airline in Tempelhof is one year old, and I am still expanding and improving things. I shall probably happily continue playing there for another year or two. But even though I am the only airline in Egypt, and although I am not an aggressive player - I even underserved domestic demand to leave room for an extra airline - it has proven to be very difficult for new players to start an airline next to mine. So I believe it is fairly difficult for a beginner to start an airline in a well established game world.

But AirlineSim has 8 game worlds. It would hurt nobody if one server was a "short term" game world. A short term game world would not attract the experienced hard core players, thus making it easier for beginners to learn by trial and error. It could also be a play ground to experiment and test things out. Besides, some people just like the excitement of a fresh start, so they would be happy too.

And after six months, people can try again, or move to one of the long term game worlds. And I honestly would not mind if new accounts in Tempelhof would get 20 million to start with.

I also think Roger made a point when he says that 1200 accounts for one server is a lot if you don’t put a limit on the number of holdings.

Jan

Stapelton may have 1,200 accounts but there are always openings as people quit the game. I joined that world because it was less developed and there are still opportunities for growth. Even with 1,200 accounts, there are many under served markets to launch from. You just have to do some work and find them. I would say it is a safe bet that the 1,200 accounts on Stapelton are running far fewer flights and carrying far fewer people per day than the 400 accounts on older servers.

Hi,

One of the main reasons why I would chose to play on more than 1 server is if each server has its own USPs (and this is implemented on one of the servers already).

By changing some restrictions and making the servers unique, you can appeal to existing customers to start new enterprises (as opposed to transfering) on the servers. I don’t have data to do some modelling, but I think this would result in more income too, as well as different challenges on each server to overcome.

Just my two cents.
