O2-line in BUD waiting for new booked flight.Seats are particular changed. But it takes time (3 days) before the result.

Meanwhile I started a new company O2-greece to make from the start in ATH.

I change a lot, thanks to your advises.

Thanks also for a link, it’s true that props have max 85 rating.

So what I changed:

  • Waves with transfer time by waves: 6-45//8-00; 12-15//13-30; 17-45//19-00; 23-15//0-30;
  • Seats and on-board service different for different routes due to competition
  • Planes, a take airbus a319, sukhoi jet and ATR. All of them are efficient and good image

What changed? Not a lot. Yes I have some domestic flights full. But:

  • ATH-WAW rating 90, 3 times a week, no competition AIRBUS 1 from 135 pax
  • ATH-PRG rating 90, 4 times  a week, no competition AIRBUS 1 from 135 pax
  • ATH-LIS rating 90, 7 times, no completion AIRBUS 2 from 135 pax
  • ATH-DRS rating 99, 4 times, no competiton, SUKHOI  6 from 72 pax
  • ATH-VCE rating 99, 7 times, no competiton, SUKHOI  14 from 72 pax
  • ATH-ESB rating 99, 7 times, no competiton, SUKHOI  10 from 72 pax
  • ATH-LJU rating 99, 7 times, no competiton, SUKHOI  2 from 72 pax
  • ATH-TLV rating 99, 7 times, no competiton, SUKHOI  21 from 72 pax
  • ATH-LIN rating 99, 7 times, no competiton, SUKHOI  14 from 72 pax

And only 5 domestic airports fully booked with rating 75 even with competiton

So AS spread pax by flights on route and gives most pax to connection flights. And direct flights goes empty. Even If ratings are more than 90. Pax goes to connection. And I don’t now what I have to do. I am not interested to run only domestic flights.

Just a quick one from me as I have not much time...

You DO have competition, it's silly to think / suggest that you don't for reasons stated earlier.

Honestly your route choices are...exotic! Again with a little research you would find that the top 10 routes from ATH are....

SKG, LCA, JTR, IST, LHR, RHO, FRA,  - you dont serve

HER, CFU - just once a day?

CHQ - every other day

Stop trying exotic routes to start with, stick to easy and obvious money makers. Start with exotic once you have 20-30 aircraft!

Start with domestic market and nothing else...

By the way: when did you create the second airline in ATH? Wait at least 3 days until you can say anything.

You’re funny. No matter what we tell you, you expect to have 80+% loads after one booking cycle with a brand new airline. This is not how this game works.

A brand new airline starts with a company image of 0, you need to do a few flights to get a first image. And then it takes a few days (up to two weeks) to get to a good level. The company image also influences your ORS rating and can help increase bookings.

Then stick to trunk routes at the beginning. If there’s no competition (on the direct route), then it most likely indicates, that there’s no demand. If there was, others most likely would fly there already.

exotic routes? where is the stats of most populary routes from ATH?

on yours provided routes a lot of empry flights of other airlines.

Soryy, but you talks to me as  I am stupid. And you are moderator!

on routes i chosen in real life are flights from differnet airlines.

AS is the game for companies with have 20 planes? In real life is not like this.

It's not true that pax goes more likely to flights with rating 90+. AS pax ignoring differens beetween direct and connection flights.

Everybody has it own thoughts. You think everybody have to run only domestic flights with a lot of competitors but not fly to other destinations. It s not like that in real life. Companies looks for free routes and open there direct flights. And pax goes more likely to direct flights. In real life direct flights are offen full. But in AS life full pax from direct flight spreads to connections. Why? AS pax have a lot of time, they like to pay more (connection are expencive) and they like takeoff and landing, and walk throw airports

BUT... like said earlier AS is about connections. Correctly. It's not a business simulator. It's AS connection simulator ))))

A brand new airline starts with a company image of 0, you need to do a few flights to get a first image. And then it takes a few days (up to two weeks) to get to a good level. The company image also influences your ORS rating and can help increase bookings.

Matth, thanks

Where I can read about it?

I didn't know abou it

About 1 cycle - i knew. but, for 3 cycles I would have not 2 but 6 pax))))

And about no demand - in manual said that we have to test demand on flight stats. There all demand on all routes listed before

Seems as it is a waste of time to give you more tips. You know everything better than longtime players. Please stop posting here if you do not want to understand what others tell you.

This game is all about trial and error...

I restarted my companies at least a dozen times before gaining enough experience to run one successfully. We're all here to try to be constructive and help you out. However, you have to be patient and follow the advice that the community has given you. As a new player, instant success is almost impossible.

Best wishes,

Well said.

I’m going to start with a quote… “Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results”. You have to understand that if people have taken their time out to try and offer up advice, and therefore fast tracking your trial and error, that it is generally polite to listen to it, and not argue with it.

As it stands with your Greek airline it seems like you have taken on a little advice. Some people will disagree with my tactic here, but instead of trying to offer advice...again, I decided to start an airline and prove that by following the advice works and can create a successful airline. The airline is now liquidated out of principle, and not to spoon feed anymore, but note the airline started after yours, so you had more opportunity than me to make a success. Of course it seems there are more airlines in Greece now so numbers may no longer be relevant.

Starting out…Research… advice given = Don’t start with long routes, exotic routes. Start with domestic routes. Research real life, and research in game.  Flightradar24 provides the top 10 routes for every real life airport, and Wikipedia usually provides some statistics. With a good selection of airports to target I then looked in game…how are other airlines doing? Yes some routes had already over 10 daily flights, but when every single flight was fully booked…then that’s a winner. So I started decided on 16 routes, 10 domestic, 6 international, some 4x daily, some 1x daily…all based on simple research.

What aircraft…advice given = avoid turboprops if possible, use aircraft evaluation tool. I decided to start with the Fokker 100. The main reason is that there were plenty available on the used aircraft market and the AET suggested a good profit, and its not a turboprop.

Service and Cabin profile… advice given = don’t use bad seats, create a good service profile = Personally I hate the user interface of the service profile, so could not be bothered for a short project, so I stuck with default, if I was looking to be more competitive over a longer time I would create a better one. Cabin profile I used, was a fairly efficient profile, giving me about 85 seats on the F100…10 of them.

Scheduling…advice given = Use waves, and use the 3 day delay tool. Every aircraft needs a maintenance period of at least 4 hours…for old aircraft about 6. So I decided to have my aircraft on the ground between 00:00 and 06:00 every day…and then have 4 waves in ATH. Arrivals before 07:45, 11:45, 15:45, 19:45…and departures 09:00, 13:00, 17:00, 21:00. So I have 4 waves, but condensed into a 12 hour period. This means even if someone lands at 07:45, taking a 13:00 wave flight is still not too bad.

How did I do… advice given = trial & error… average load on the first day was 74%, with domestic 81%. The 3 worst routes…cancelled, the flights with fully booked flights….added flights. I added 2 F100s for my domestic flying and Cyprus (the stronger markets), then decided to introduce something smaller for international flights to try and make them more profitable…E145s. Then I realised I could not fly these in to big airports (mistake on my part), so introduced two F70s too. The F70s took over he international, and then I used the E145s for trial and error on new routes. Average load on day 5 = 75%...E145 T/E fleet = 20 flights = 46%, F70 = 6 flights = 55%, F100 domestic + Cyprus = 42 flights = 92%.

So same again on day 10… 10 routes dropped…routes with 100% upgraded. As some domestic routes had flights on all 4 waves now I added a second set of waves for those…07:00, 11:00, 15:00, 19:00. I should really use larger aircraft but again not for a short project. I also added the E175 to replace the F70 which would mean better quality on international flights. So the final loads = E145 = 17 flights = 60%, E175/F70 = 8 flights = 65%, F100 = 59 flights = 85%.

All in all this was done with the advice on this forum (and ok some experience), but mostly advice. I would add some more advice which I don’t think has been done before….

  • Don’t avoid competition, avoiding routes already done by competitors is of zero advantage to you. Theres a reason they do well on the flight…demand!
  • If a flight is doing well (100%), add more frequencies. If its doing badly…drop it…don’t shed a tear...this could be considered trial and error

Good luck with your new airlines, don't be too proud to listen to advice given, because it does work....as proven.

I hope that helps

Ian
