Overpaying on Aircraft Market

Something I have noticed whilst bidding on older aircraft on Gatow, lots of people are willing to pay a more expensive lease for a 10-15 year old plane then it cost to lease a brand new plane.

Why do people do this? I always set myself a limit of what i'm willing to pay and if I get outbid then I will move onto something else.

Is it a competition thing? i.e. they don't want to get beat by another airline or are people too impatient to wait the hours for the new plane?

Am I missing something? is it better to pay the higher price to get a plane quicker?

Sometimes you just need an aircraft now and not within 21 hours.

In theory you can make a system where you and a buddy constantly buy aircraft regardless of price, put it on the market for your buddy to buy at 20% of cost at an obscure time of day with few users online so nobody up-bids you, and then repeat the process to build one airline up with good planes, the other guy folds, then opens a new company to buy the planes all over again. Various accusations could be made against various super-airlines for having done this in certain game worlds, but they always get angry when you mention namES.

I don't think you'r missing anythings

i v seen some time people  buying for 250 000$/week a plane that at the same moment  is sold for 40 000$

its a competition to win something regardless if it make sense or not. ( the same reason people will sadly cheat )

its the new guys who make this kind of mistakes or some times a very profitable aircraft like the B757 cargo or MD80 family make guys go crazy

these guys airlines don't last down the road

one should always stick to the long term vision

Agree. I made a bit for B-747-400 for 5,100,000 and just in 25 minutes I was overbid by new player (PeopleFly company). He paid for this plane 5,600,000, even there was planes cheaper and newer.
