How hard would it be to modify existing programming to let airlines click on a particular flight and see what flights your ‘from own feeder’ passengers are coming from and what flights your ‘to own connection’ passengers are connecting to? It would be a bonus if we could access this for external connections as well! I assure you in the real world every airline has this information..
Something along those lines is on the agenda: Storage of individual bookings (experimental)
But it’s a whole lot of data and if one wants to be able to actually analyse the data (as in: formulate ad hoc, dynamic queries), it required a bit of engineering effort to make it work. Mind you, AirlineSim is a game. We already burn a sizeable share of our monthly revenue on hosting because running the ORS/DS requires a lot of compute. We can’t simply tack on (for example) another specialised database to analyse hundreds of millions of booking records.
I totally understand that. But just yesterday I was asking myself why some of my Flights to a specific airport aren’t booked in just one specific wave. All PAX in the other wave where transferring to another connection. It is then really hard, if not impossible, to find that one connection you are not offering at a specitic wave, or if it is already fully booked.
For me it wouldn’t have to be a very detailed feature. An information about connection internal fligts within a (configurable?) specific timeframe, e.g. 2 hours would be great. I once made a simple excel with just the number of in- and outgoing flights for every wave, but it is a pain in the ass to keep it updated.
What if we simply charge for the in-depth analysis with detailed passenger tracking, including feeder and onward connections? For example, 10 requests per route pair for one credit, or what do you think the right price would be?
Or would that make it feel too pay-to-win? Maybe we could limit it to paid users or something like that.
yeah that was my first thought as I was reading that, that does kind of sound a bit P2W. AS already comes with a steep learning curve for newcomers & I personally don’t think adding additional barriers would help with onboarding potential new players.
That said I wouldn’t be opposed to any monetisation ideas that doesn’t directly impact on gameplay.
I mean besides liveries or like branding customisation I don’t see how otherwise conventional cosmetics would be as applicable to AS compared to most games out there but maybe I’m just lacking imagination idk ![]()
Could be worth a future topic if anything ideas end up coming to mind?
