So I had a thought.
Why does an airline get to filter via A320/A321 vs A318/A319 but not, say, for example E190/E195 vs E170/E175, or 737-800/900 vs 737-700/600? I feel that this would be easier to filter through, as with the same as the 320 vs 319, a ton of ppl prefer to operate the higher ends and drop the lowers, or vice versa. I don’t think this would be hugely different, as the plants and production chains are already independent of the families. Maybe have them as different families?
My point is if we’re going to do it for the A320 we might as well extend it to all the applicable categories with many sub-types and different economics across the family. Such as, but not limited to.
EMB: 170/175 - 190/195 - 290/295 (E2)
CRJ: 100/200 - 700/900/1000
737: 200 - 300/400/500 - 600/700 - 800/900 - MAXs
A318/A319 - A320/A321 - NEOs (already existing)
Dash 8: 100/200 - 300/400/Q400
Legend: Major family: subset group 1 - subset group 2 (the - acting as a barrier)
We already do this well with some other categories like the 747 and the Fokkers. Just a QOL thing I think would be nice to add to a future patch.
Maybe the best version to fix it would be to do it like how pricing does it, with the Aircraft Family staying the same, but adding the subcategories like how pricing does.
So say I’m looking for A321LR.
Aircraft family would be the NEO one as existing. so A319/A320/A321NEO.
Aircraft type dropdown would look something like this:
- Any
- Airbus A320NEO
– Airbus A320NEO Light SHARP (from now on, condensed for brevity)
– Light
– Medium
– Heavy - A321NEO
– Light
– Medium
– Heavy
– LR *(I would choose – A321LR as the option)
This will also add the way for example of filtering all A321NEOS on the market, instead of having to check every single category. For something like the A320ceo or the 737-800 with so many subtypes, this would be nice, especially when I can also filter by cheapest…
Again, small little QOL thing I think would be nice.
