I got a strange issue - yesterday, I scheduled a plane (AVIC II/Y-7 turboprop, works well as local aircraft to other size 2-4 airports) from Jeddah to Sana’a on Otto. It has optimal connection time to all my other flights (1:15 to max. 1:30 in Jeddah, both inbound and outbound), ORS shows rating 53 (by far the best on the route), I am the only one flying the route and nearly only one who flies to Sana’a. Since the flights were scheduled, both my hub in Jeddah and Sana’a had demand calculation, also nearly all connections did. However, not a single passenger booked on ANY of the flights! Is something wrong with Sana’a Airport?
I could be wrong but is there flight restrictions between Saudi and Yemen?
There don’t seem to be restrictions. It is just likely the fact there have been almost no flights out of Sana’a since the war in 2014, especially not to Saudi. Therefore, demand is quite low for the airport and city pair. You need a ton of connections to make SAH work.
Yes, looks like this. As after 3 days, not a single pax booked on the flights, despite lots of inbound connections I cancelled the route, and reused the plane for another route. What is strange is that the Sana’a is still listed as a demand 4 airport in game. Maybe its about saudi airline - I can see that one of alliance partners flies to Sana’a from Karachi, and has at least some bookings visible in market analysis.
