We welcome Nerdish Airways Peru. We are very proud, that we can add the important market of Peru to the network of Sky Alliance.

With an average age of only 2.4 years, Nerdish Airways Peru is operating a very modern fleet. 15 aircraft of the manufacturer Bombardier, starting at the airlines hub at Lima (LIM), are adding nearly 400 weekly departures to the network of our alliance.

Sky Alliance will become its new, final CI. The merger of the network and the adaption will be finally completed.
2013
In 2013 the new Sky Alliance strengthened its position as the most important airline alliance in the world. The coordination of the new alliance network and the adaption of the new alliance standards took place over the year. Because of a difficult economic enviroment and the introduction of some new laws by the Board of the game impeded this process.
2012
The competitive situation leaded to a convergence between the Lions Alliance, the third biggest alliance, and Birds Alliance, the second biggest alliance. The members of both alliances agreed on the idea of a merger of both alliances under a new brand. So on December, 5th they announced the foundation of the new Sky Alliance.
2011
In 2011 the CEO of flyBlue decides to leave the alliance Rising Union to start a new project. The reasons for this decision were the decrease of the numbers of members and difficulties on the search for new members. Some of the former members of Rising Union followed him, so on March 22nd they founded the new Lions Alliance.
2009
The history of Sky Alliance started 2009 with the formation of the alliances Rising Union and Birds Alliance. At this point of time even competitors, they should decide some years later to merge into one alliance.

[London/Greensboro/Monastir] We welcome two new members to Sky Alliance:
(SkyLivery Aiolos - Bombardier DH8-Q400)
We welcome Aiolos, operating a fleet out of 57 aircraft and serving about 1,200 weekly departures from Monastir (MIR/Tunisia). We are very happy, that we can add a new gateway between Europe, the Near East and the African continent to our network, with the membership of Aiolos.

We also welcome Greensboro Air with a fleet of 16 regional aircraft. It will become our new regional member from the USA. In cooperation with our US-member Lions America, Greensboro Air will connect our network with small and regional airports within the USA.

Lafayette Airlines and Lions America Express become members of Sky Alliance. With the admission of these two regional airlines, Sky Alliance is expanding its US-network by many smaller US-cities.

Lafayette Airlines is operating a fleet out of 138 aircraft of the types ATR 72, Boeing 737, Embraer E-Jets, Bombardier CRJ and Dash8 with main Hubs at Chicago Midway and New York Newark. Focus Cities of Lafayette Airlines are Baltimore, Tampa, Minneapolis, Detroit, Cincinnati and Dallas Love.

Lions America Express, a subsidiary of our long-standing member Lions America, operates a fleet of 145 aircraft of the manufacturer Bombardier (Dash8/CRJ). The airline operates regional flights on the whole US-market.

[London/Ljubljana] Sky Alliance is presenting a new member, today. We welcome Slovenia Airlines with hub at Ljubljana (LJU) in our alliance. Slovenia Airlines is operating a young and modern fleet out of the types Embraer 195 and Bombardier CRJ 900. With nearly 200 weekly departures from LJU, Slovenia Airlines is the biggest airline of its country.

[London/ Istanbul] After our former Turkish member Aero Paradise ceased operation, without any warnings, we are now very proud, to present you our new Turkish member: Anadolu Airlines. With a fleet out of 269 aircraft and about 4,000 weekly departures from its main hub IST, Anadolu Airlines is the biggest Turkish airline. We are very happy to welcome such a strong and reliable partner to our alliance.

African Oriental is a young African airline with hub at EBB (Uganda). The airline uses a mixed fleet out of Boeing 737 and Bombardier CRJ/ DH8. With about 300 weekly departures African Oriental is the biggest airline from its country.

Ro Air, with hub at OTP (Romania), will expand the alliance network to East Europe. The airline uses aircraft by the manufacturers Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer and McDonnell Dougles. Ro Air is the biggest airline, from its country.
Sky Alliance now has 39 members. Every week our members operate about 400,000 flights to more than 1,600 airports in 170 countries.

West Indies International
With a fleet out of 11 regional aircraft, West Indies International, with hub at Port of Spain (Trinidad & Tobago), is expanding our network on the Caribbean area.
Apure Air
With Apure Air, we welcome a new member from South America. From its hub at Caracas (Venezuela), the airline operates a fleet of 28 aircraft of Boeing and Bombardier. With about 800 weekly departures from Caracas, Apure Air is the biggest airline of its country.
Desert Airways
We also could expand our network at North Africa. With Desert Airways we welcome a young and ambitious airline. Desert Airways is operating a fleet out of 21 regional aircraft. With about 600 weekly departures, Desert Airways is the biggest airline on its main hub Algier and also the biggest airline from Algeria.
