So, I've only played AS creating airlines in Brazil. By being a brazilian, I can recognize routes that are crowded here or even explore my country. But, well, into every server Brazil is almost full of airlines, and I don't really know how to start a airline somewhere else.
I want to ask you all some tips on good markets that I can explore something, because, if I'll be by myself, hahaha, I simply won't make a airline happen again!
And, uh, sorry If there's any mistake here, I'm not a native speaker of english.
If you are dead set on playing Brazil I'd say find the biggest airport with at least 70-80% slots remaining and try to build an airline for the demand that you'd expect to see at that airport. It is possible even on old servers you can find a niche and be able to build a respectible airline over a lot of time. But expect to be crushed if the major takes notice of you and decides to crush you.
On the other hand you could look around the different servers and find the biggest domestic market available in a restricted market. (Never start your first airline in unrestricted markets) Not that long ago I found a completely open market in Peru. While not Brazil it is still a reasonably decent market.
The final option is to wait until a new server starts (and eventually one will) and jump on the Brazilian market. But I would advise you learn the game in a smaller less competitive market first because Brazil usually gets competitive.
I personally find that the first option is the most exciting. I've taken the #5 airline in Canada in Devau starting out of Calgary and made it unto the #1 airline there years after the original start date. Mind you it took the #1 airline player bailing on the game but it can be done. But I eventually overtook the #2 airline so it can be done. (But it will take good management AND LUCK.
I found my niches on different servers by searching for empty (or nearly empty) spots. This worked quite well on 3 servers.
Even on the most crowded servers you can find a niche. I have recently created a company even in Europe as #1 stopped operations. Now there are even in Europe plenty of slots available... The market in Brasil is huge, so finding a server with a HUB not yet completely crowded may make also sense for you. Then it will take longer to grow as if you would find an empty spot but it can work.
I am still experiencing around waiting for Quimby to be a permanent gameworld. 1 of my airline is in Vietnam, Meigs, and starting at an old gameworld that allow older type of aircraft (B737 Classic etc) will kinda give you an edge on how much a/c you can lease when first start.
Best way to know what route is popular from an airport that you have no knownledge of is to use Google, search the airport where you gonna base at, and check the statistics and destinations

Quimby will never be a permanent gameworld. However, they do launch new servers without the time limit quite frequently. I believe the last launch was Riem.

So does that mean the new gameworld starts after when the current Quimby world finish will not be a permanent one?
Quimby will probably reset, and be temporary again. But at some point, as Rubio writes, a new server will arrive. But it could be next month, it could be may 2016. Only AS knows that.
