You might disagree with me but I was looking for an airplane with small capacity, a relatively small price and a plane that could go + 6,000 km. I found that the A319-100LR was a great small airplane. I don't know the situation on other servers but on Croydon there is only 1 available on the aircraft market. It was first produced in 2012 and it can go 6,900 km minimum. The starting price is 3.1 million for lease so it is quite expensive but my airline is getting bigger by the day and soon I will need a plane to fly from my hub in Algiers to JFK, Lagos, Miami etc.
I have never tried the plane so don't rage about me being wrong because I am asking you guys if you agree or disagree. Now I know there is the 757-200ER but all of those aircraft have been bought and the Tupolev dosen't fly far enough to JFK.
Provided that you have a well build Hub in Algier with more then 1000 and since Algiers is not a well known Place for Long Range flights, i would recon not before 1500 daily flights, I would not advice you to start long haul flights. Simply Algiers has very little demand and as I can see you have only 12 aircrafts so far so you will most likey not be able to fill larger airplanes ...... and then you will burn mony big time ...... so build your hub and later you can think about adding long haul flights ....
I agree with what Benjamin said. However, if you absolutely insist on getting long haul machines, have a look at the Antonov AN-148 family. They are relatively small (even smaller than an A319), can fly up to 6000 km and are dirt cheap. Only drawback is their long delivery time, which shouldn´t be a factor for your airline though.
I agree on the Antonov AN-148. I used them in a business/first class configuration only for flights from east coast USA to Europe. No problems with filling the plane with passengers and had some profit margin as well.
IMO it is generally dangerous to start long haul flights as new airline. In most cases you need enough feeder traffic to make such flights viable.
My long haul services (of my main airline) are flown with a mix of the A320-family and the 757-200ER. The 757-200ER is unique in many ways and perfectly suited for me but the availability of additional frames is a problem.
The 737-900ER HGW(Winglet) is surprisingly a good aircraft for longer fairly thin routes, as the range drop-off doesn't really hit until about 7000km. It can have about 90% capacity until you hit around 7000km distance. And it is pretty efficient.
The 204-100 is a good plane for a start-up. It costs you half of what a comparable Boeing/Airbus would cost you. BUT it's thirsty and you don't have a family of them.

You will also find that with leisure plus seats, you will not see a dip in seats for those longer flights - maybe a couple of units of cargo.
Go to the Aircraft Type Evaluation tool and see which aircraft gives you the best economics. For me, this 739 was far better than its competitors on a vast majority of routes.
I am planning to use a A318 to get to Beijing China. It is the same length as a flight to Boston from London. I would only recommend starting a Long flight using dream liners when you have over 500 jet departures. However if you want slots and a quick start opup to New York I would use the B739 or the A318/319 (longer range)
I would rather choose the non-winglet version of 737-900ER HGW, the difference in lease is a lot, while change in fuel efficiency is negliable.
Whenever consider a route, use the aircraft type evaluation tool to check the cost.
An-148E is good up to ~5800km, but for routes over 6000km it is not working (as in ALG-JFK). I would not recommend A318s and A319s, as the per seat cost is really high at this distance (ALG-JFK) versus 737-900ER HGW. (The fixed cost for 739 and 319 are almost the same, 739 gets almost free exrta seats in this sense. ) However, I don't recommend flying to USA at the moment, since there is a lot of competition for connecting flights from USA (almost all European based airline can do JFK-Africa connection given the geography), and there are insufficient demand between JFK and Algeria.
