Toronto Island Airport

Hello dudes!

Greetings for everyone.

Well, i'm here to discuss about Toronto City (Island) Airport.

In ALS it's a small airport without transfers, but in real life it's a pretty busy airport, with over 2 million passengers a year, and a hub for Porter Airlines.

So as a paying member i would like to request the admin team to make this airport "transfereable", allowing it to make transfers so we can fly from there, or present a feasible reason for not doing so.

I've searched in the forum to see if there are any other topics about this matter, but couldn't find any, so i'm sorry if i'm being redundant.

Best regards ;)

Hey:

For performance reasons, transfers have been disabled on small airports , even though they might offer transfer in real life. The only exception are airports in certain less populated countries, as there should be at least one transferable airport per country....

Yes but it’s not a small airport. It has more than 2 million pax a year and growing.

It’s obviously an exception… Otherwise there are tons of Us small airports that should have their transfer capabilities disabled too.

Can someone from the admin team answer, please?

Especially YTZ is a special problem. In reality it might be used for several transfer too, but the main number of flight guests have their origin or destination in Toronto. It is - in reality - limited to some traffic "near by" due to the runway limitation. Therefor we decided YTZ not to make transferable. By the way - if we would allow transfer at the airport, this would also implement and ajustment of the airport size which would have impact on the turn-arround times.

Well, i must insist that it's not a strong reason to not make the airport transferable.

- Some traffic "nearby":

Washington Dulles 559km
Halifax 1279km
Chicago Midway 706km
Moncton 1206km
Thunder Bay 999km
Boston 684km

Ok, some of them are close, but others aren't that close, and the main airline there uses Dash8 aircraft, as most players using the airport would use (Dash or ATR).

I see this airport just like SDU here in Brazil: It's a small airport with a very short runaway but a huge traffic.
If airplanes operating there (SDU) didn't operate with special configurations and procedures, it would have the same limitations as Toronto City. And here in the game you cannot also operate a 737/A320/E190 from SDU, which in real life it's possible and has been discussed here before.

About the transfer times, if all players that operate there are ok with the fact that they would have to change their schedules, why not change it?
Just put an announcement at the home page linking to a poll.

I'm sure most people will apreciate the change since it will bring advantages for those players.

The turn-arround times were only one point. But as written before - there is not much tansfer action at the airport in real life either! So the airport remain not transferable.

Have you ever been to Toronto ? Trust me YTZ is small :D . And if you'd ask the real life "Torontonians" whether they'd like people to transfer in YTZ the majority would reject that, because they dislike Porters noisey Q400s flying over downtown. By the way they are the only  airline operating to and from this airport....

EDIT: Sorry just checked back... there now is actally an hourly AC service to Montreal... mea culpa..

Since this has been brought up, I'd like to know what happen with my request to make at least 2 more airports in Argentina "transferable", one in the north (TUC or SLA, SLA being the hub of Andes Lineas Aéreas) and one in the south (USH, FTE or CRD, this last one being the hub of a small airline in reality). And IGR would be eligible as well. AS Support told me via email they'd look into it, but never heard from them since.

That's right and I'm still into this. At the moment I'm busy with the airport data to have an update within the next few week. But I can't promise if I can check it within this work or if it is going to be an extra part of checking the transferable airports and we geographicly need more.
