If I have an A/C with two cabin configs (obviously 1 set as being used) is there an easy way to compare the total revenue that either cabin config will generate if it gets fully booked?
just multiply the number of seats wirh the prices for the different classes and configs. that will be your potential revenue on a given route.
There isn’t an automated way - so use the above. Bear the following two things in mind though:
-
You want to look at margins, not revenue. So if Business Class gives you a higher margin (profit) per seat, you may want a config with more of those.
-
Demand changes with supply and price. So for example, if you have First Class selling at $2000 for a particular route, you are more likely to fill 2 seats - giving you $4000 in total. However, if you half the price, you may be able to sell 8 seats, giving you $8000. I hope that makes sense. Its really a combination of looking at how much demand there is for the route for each class, and deciding the seat numbers from there.

multiplying makes sense. I am still trying to get a grasp for how to best view demand for particular seats. I see the demand over all, but dont know where to see the breakdown per class.
Just multiply it by the prices. It’s an important thing to compare in order to choose how many Y or F seats is ideal.
