Transfer Times

Hello, I have a few questions that I can’t seem to find the answer for in the Wiki pages. It’s about transfer times…

  1. What does it mean to have an airport with ‘Transfer impossible’? What’s a good way to schedule flights with those airports? Any advantages, disadvantages?

  2. Let’s say there’s an airport with a 1:00h minimum transfer. Does that mean it’s best to make your flight depart one hour from ‘Arrival’ or ‘Ready to Depart’ times?

Hi JWolfman,

  1. Transfer impossible means passangers will not hop from one aircraft to another. If you have scheduled a via stop, passangers can stay on the plane. Flights to these airports are best scheduled without any thoughts of transfering.

  2. That transfer time means from your Arrival time. Some aircraft e.g. 737 take an hour to refuel etc anyway, so you can schedule immediate take off (when the plane is ready) and passangers can still transfer.

Also, as far as I know, the transfer time has to do with the time of the arrival and not with the time the airplane is ready to go. For example, if an airport has 1h transfer time, if you want to transfer the pax to another plane, then you need only to look at the arrival time of the first plane and not at the time when it will be ready to live.

And what is the transfer time impact on Cargo.???

same as with pax

Keep in mind, that the transfer time does not count for PAX or fright staying onboard an a/c. If connecting with the same plane, you can start the connecting flight immediately after the first one (even if the transfer time is way longer than the turnaround time of the a/c)!
