I think the A321 turnournd of 1:30 should be changed to 1hr. Not only the 737s have unrealistic high fuel burn advantage but all of the 737 have 1 hr turnournd. If the 739 can be turned around in 1hr then A321 can be too. That would put a better balance between the two narrowbody families in the game.
+1 on this
Airbus is at disadvantage at all levels in this game unlike in real life.
Yes I have always wondered about this....why the A321 has longer turnaround times than the rest of the A320 family?
Maybe it is a good time to change it when the AS team roll out a new aircraft system with the A320 sharklets...rectify this problem in one go :D
I think turn around time should be based on the number of seats installed instead of the maximum number of seats possible that can be installed.
We would like to switch to "dynamic" turn-around times dependent on a bunch of relevant factors, but there's a long tail of issues coming with that which requires a lot of attention.
Think about changing your catering service and thereby blowing up the schedules of half your fleet ;)
That's a great idea Martin. But probably will take a while to do and as a quick thing you could change the A321 turnaround to 1hr in the next update - it's easy ;-)
Right now our policy states that we do not introduce harmful changes. So even if we adjusted the turnaround time of the A321, it would only affect new game worlds, not existing ones.
Even for the A350 Airbus plans to have a turnaround of 1h. An other big disadvantage of the A321 vs B739 is the maintenance, it costs about 40% more. Is this really so in the real world ?

How is it harmful?
How is it harmful?
Whenever turnaround times change - even to the better - your arrival times would need to be adjusted. As soon as you touched the schedule of an affected aircraft the schedule could go bust because the required slots might not be available.
If I have scheduled A321 with 1:30 turnaround it would still arrive and depart at the same time when the possible turnaround is reduced. This would only created "blank" space in schedule and improve mtx ratio. Hardly harful.

that's what I thought!

in real life too.
the airbus 320 family use to have more efficieny over 737 but not anymore
737 is slightly cheaper to run now that a 320
One of the big benefits of the airbus narrow body family is the common airspeed, which should also mean that you can easily swap an aircraft for a higher/lower capacity version without changing arrival or departure times. As velocity remains constant, the only variable affected would be time on the ground.

true, but in this game, the turnaround time of an aircraft is equally important (if not more) as the airspeed...that puts the A320 family in a huge disadv because if I plan to use the A321 I'd have to leave an extra 15 min on every schedule on my A318/319/320s... that put you off from using the A320 family isn't it?
that's why I never use them :D

And that unpublished fact is the reason that I got screwed when I tried to upgauge a popular route. I’m carrying more passengers per flight, but running one flight fewer per day now. I could have checked the performance calculator beforehand, but I assumed that turnaround times would be the same, because they are for the 737 family, and the non-321 32X aircraft.
Live and learn, but hope that things will change to bring parity.

well it is a fair assumption to be honest...
and could the AS team provide the answer to why the turnaround time for the A321 is set differently? for the number of pax, the fuselage length, it is very similar to the B739 and yet it requires 15 more minutes to turnaround...
Sure - there is a matrix of airport size and aircraft size. The 737-900 is slightly below the limit to the next turn-arround step and the 321 above. We are thinking about this topic a long time and as martin wrote before we are in development process (like many other things ...)

The awesome changes, they are a-coming! Thank you AS team!
If we want to take advantage of them once the change is implemented, do we need new flight numbers, or can we just delete a schedule and re-add the existing flight numbers to our schedule?

That is definitely awesome changes - thank you!!
One thing that puzzles me though, I checked the performance tool for Q400A for a flight to JFK (the largest airport size right?), and it says the turnaround time is 45 minutes...which IS equal to what I had for Q400B. So I am just wondering, sk says the new turnaround time is gonna be the same as the Q400B but they're already the same....?!
