A321neo cargo capacity

Quick question as I don’t think this is correct. I have put an A321neo Light on between DFW and JFK, cabin configuration of 180Y and 24C, but it’s showing a cargo capacity of 2?!

I have checked the performance tool and it’s well within its max payload range, no runway issues as expected between two major airports. It’s only a 3 hour flight after all.

Any idea why it can’t take so little cargo? Is my passenger count too high? 204 in total doesn’t seem out of the ordinary

Passengers take more luggage on longer flights. So I guess it’s kind of normal, that the capacity left is not too high.

The A321NEO Light has a maximum payload of 20900 kg and as passengers + their luggage (which they take more on longer flights) weigh quite a bit thereby it does not have capacity for full cargo. If you really need the cargo choose a heavier model.

Edit: Matth said the same thing a minute before

:o

Whoa... After years of playing AE, I just knew that these "weighter" A/C was built for something.

Passengers take more luggage on longer flights.

passengers + their luggage (which they take more on longer flights)

Is that a new thing, and if so, does it apply on all game worlds? I remember that it used to be 95 kg per passenger (including luggage) for any flight. With that figure, 204 pax would be 19380 kg, so I would expect to have another 1500 kg for cargo.

The temporary game worlds and Hoover have the dynamic turnarounds. With those, the baggage handling has changed and is more dynamic and depends on the distance of the destination.

The legacy game worlds still have a static baggage calculation, but you also don't have spare cargo capacity on smaller aircraft.

Going to hijack this thread for my question....

What's the difference between bulk cargo and lower deck cargo? Do they sell the same way? I'm assuming that passengers will take up some of the lower deck cargo, but not bulk? Thanks in advance.

Passengers will use both if necessary. The only difference is that "lower deck cargo" is containerised and is quicker to load than the piece by piece "Bulk Cargo". This means that you can get shorter turn around times with containerised cargo (on the worlds that have this function). Which is why a 737 which cant take containers takes longer to load (and turnaround) than an A320 which does take containers. You can also choose to not load bulk cargo through inventory which might give a quicker turnaround but you will loose cargo capacity (bags still get loaded even if you disable bulk cargo). If you are not familiar with cargo holds even the planes that are equipped to take containers will have some bulk space as all space cant be filled by containers, this is why some planes have both alternatives. Containers are quicker to load as they are pre loaded and just need to be rolled in to the hold. Bulk Cargo will require each piece to be individually put in.

Thank you, this is very helpful. This will help me decide whether I want to go Airbus or CSeries. Was leaning to Airbus for the lower deck cargo space, but since turnaround times aren't all that important for most of my domestic routes, I'll be going CSeries, since it in fact has comparable cargo space with an A320.

Thanks again.
