A330-800/900Neo

Why would you choose the A330neo over the 787? Has anyone made the A330neo work ?

Hey, hey, I was wondering that too. The 78X and 35X are superior in all areas.

I still have over 200 359X in use. Simply because I can afford it.

Two reasons I could think of:

  • the 330 offers a dedicated freighter in the same maint category
  • an existing 330/340 fleet can’t be switched for 787/350 without messing with slots

While the 339 is almost equivalent to the 789, the 338 is pretty bad compare to the 788. Most airlines either operate them as they need the freighter A330 or that they want an all Airbus fleet.

The 333-R is also tempting from what I’ve seen on Limatambo. It’s better than a -10 for high capacity short haul routes, although not by a lot.
So it tempts, to add the 338/339 instead of 787 in order to have the 333R.

thank you for the replies

The A330F is something I never thought about

I am currently running a new airline on Limatambo out of South Korea - so cargo is big, I have 737s as well so could get 737-700C as well.

338 makes it 100% payload to Heathrow and to San Francisco. So might not be bad to replace your 787s.

Add’ly 33R can be useful for those strong domestic spokes that SK has

In my case I run several airlines, and can’t get 787s fast enough sometimes. I chose the 330 because I originally got some cheap. I’d have gone 350, but it’s a little large for the hubs at those airlines. I wish the 350-8 had been built.
