Airport IATA code.

Seems like in the game there are some airports like Chofu airport that are given IATA code despite the airport in real life only have ICAO code and no IATA code. Is this intended?

Yes, as the game primarily uses IATA codes over the ICAO codes when referring to airports. They also use the code KG1 to refer to Kamigoto (RJDK), because if not, it couldn’t be flown to.

Side note, the IATA code for Chofu used in-game is actually assigned to some air force base in Florida. It’s always amusing to load up my airline on AS Route Map, so see a DH1 turboprop flying from Japan to Florida.

Wouldnt it be better to use a code with a number in it for Chofu then?

It won't help because some airports have only ICAO or IATA code, not both.

yes i agree using codes that would never be used by actual airport, like code start with digit, would be better than reusing code from milbase...
