I rescheduled a aircraft from KHI-BCN to KHI-CGN route but transfer failed to initiate as a result 2 of my long haul flights were cancelled. The aircraft was standing at BCN for 8 hours and flight time between BCN and CGN is just 2 hours so plz dont say there wasnt enough time for transfer.
I dont understand how this transfer system works. I usually ignore such cancellations but this one was expensive :(
No, there's probably a simple explanation, depending on the schedule. The time window for a transfer flight was probably too small for a transfer flight to be triggered soon enough.
The system only checks if a transfer flight is needed, when new flights are booked into the system for that aircraft.
Maybe you can provide a screenshot of the schedule?
What Spezialist wrote was what happened in your case. It is clear from the posted screenshot that the transfer flight could not have been triggered. It was triggered at the time the first flight from CGN was already due to depart from CGN. This is the problem with long haul aircraft that have only one round trip per day, trigger moments happen only twice per day and if they overlap the flight time of a new flight, you will get a cancellation. The only solution is to put such aircraft on manual watch and transfer manually, OR lock schedule so no new flight on old route is generated, and 24 hours later, schedule a new flight. Or schedule the new flight, lock schedule for 24 hours, and then release with 3 days delay after 24 hours. That will create a 24 hour window where no flights are scheduled, and the transfer will be able to take place.
