I am really stuck on buying stocks. I am trying to buy a stock in Croydon, for Chang Airlines Argentina. It says I don't have enough money but the stock lists for 189.20AS$, which I think is 189,200 AS$. Maybe I've got the units wrong? If you could answer my question that would be great!
The stock price will be $189.20, not $189,200.00.
For buying stocks, first someone has to be willing to sell the shares. Check under the section at the bottom of the page to see if someone is wanting to sell shares. Once there is someone that is willing to sell the shares, you have to pay at least the price they are asking. If someone is asking $189.20 for each of their shares, you have to pay at least $189.20, and I would suggest entering something like $189.21 just to make sure. When AS Holding is selling shares, it might be a rounded price, so going up one cent is a good idea.
Also, you have to pay that for each share. If you are wanting to get 1000 shares, you are going to have to put up $189,200 for those shares. This money is immediately taken from your account to buy shares that might come available later on. You can cancel the order anytime and get your money back immediately.
Once a company has completed their IPO, each buy order of their stock has to amount to at least $10,000. Using the above example, you couldn't get just one share. You'd have to order at least 53 shares of this company. If someone is only selling 20, you'd only buy 20, but your remaining order (33 in this case) would stay up on the stock page. You can, of course, cancel the order at any time.
If you want to give a little more info (a screenshot would be great), I'd be willing to help you some more.
Hey,
I think I get it but I will ask you if I don't but thanks anyway!!!
It seems you also need a certain minimum net worth in order to be able to participate in IPO's.
Yes, 10,000 AS$ IIRC
Equity I guess?
Equity needs to be 10 million AS$ in order to participate in an IPO.
Actually equity needs to be 20 million AS$ in order to participate in an IPO. If it was only 10 million, any new company could participate...
Equity I guess?
No, 10.000 is minimum order for stock buy once listed.
