It only took about 2 months, but in this log I am fairly confident in saying that the Spring Migration that started in week 19 is pretty much complete. Last week was spent mostly on testing and ironing out final issues. One was a pesky blocker that I had been trying to find for several weeks now. With that one out of the way, I am not too worried about pushing the new version out to production servers anymore. Which will happen with the delayed launch of Yeager the latest.
In other (development and non-development) news:
We finally received a new tax ID! Believe it or not, but it only took the German tax office (or rather: the Hessian and the Bavarian ones) about half a year to issue it. Remember, simulogics moved its head-office to a new place in late 2024, ahead of my private move to the same town. This meant that simulogics head to switch registry as well, which meant that tax-wise, it became a different entity (sort of). I wouldn’t typically get excited about such a mundane act of bureaucracy, but having no valid tax ID meant that Steam wouldn’t pay out our revenues. So they just accumulated in their bank account since December. Our Steam revenues aren’t massive, but still: They can tip the scale between a good and a bad month. Now they’ll finally be wired to us…albeit at a really s****y EUR/USD rate
I also got around to an important change to our internal aircraft performance editor that became necessary as @Priller is ramping up research efforts. And I have more polish on my to-do list for the coming weeks. Don’t want to be the reason this drags on longer than it has to…the sooner we get enough data in, the earlier we can launch the 1.5 performance formulas.
Last but not least I was able to troubleshoot a connection issue that we have been seeing in our account management system for many years…the first ticket about it was created in July 2021 . As I expected, I wasn’t able to do much about it, though. This is an issue that occurs mostly in corporate networks with strict and/or stupid traffic rules. All I could do was make the respective error message more informative.
Now on to wrapping up the remaining issues around the Spring Migration…I need to get those new aircraft pricing formulas in so we can get Yeager XI started…
