Dissatisfaction with this new "game world"

Hello friends.

I tried to post a comment on the announcement, but i was unable to.. I think it's a bug on the main page.

Well, with all do respect, i tried this game but i couldn't play for more than 20min..

I think this was a complete waste of time, since the real AirlineSim has many issues and bugs, and lots of things to be improved.

The team usually scores.. but that one was a missed approach.. And a "go around" would be a good choice.

There are so many problems with the game, and some many useful stuff to be made (for example, a few weeks ago i opened a new topic  talking about a mobile interface), if you look to the suggestions and ideas sub forum, there are lots of useful suggestions that the managing team don't even look at (or at least don't even comment with a positive or negative feedback, so who posts there feels completly stupid).

I was told that ALS team has limited resources, so, why spend those limited resources in something like this? I'm very disappointed.

Again, it's my opinion about the new game.

Could you name the "bugs" you found? I dont think AS is that buggy. However, I can play more than 20 min in this new game world, which could be still an april fool ...

It sincerely hope its an Aprils fool joke.

It has been open for a day and only 100 or so people are trying it. If this world is indeed real, I think it will will demonstrate to the team that most are not playing this game because of the business aspect- it is only because of the aviation. So i hope they will work hard to get the aviation part (aircraft performance)  right and stop wasting time on space invaders or what ever.

Oh, and if anyone wants to play a space game, I suggest EVE online. It is much better.

Well… I hope its april fool too lol.

If it is, you really got me…

Eve is Crap ... I tried this when I quit playing Mankind (mankind.net)

hahaha thats looks too awsome!! lol

I'm totally sure it's an April's fool joke, but I'm already seeing forward people complaining about this "new server" being a joke for a day-long and how much time they spent buildind a huge intergalactic commuter and that this is not fair. Seriously, before I'd got it as a joke, I took a look at this "new server" and it doesn't even make any sense.

I really don’t know how +100 users are trying to play this. This make me think that some of us are not here for an aviation management experience.

How the hell do you fly between stars within a day with something undefined at 850km/h? Weekly departures on space travel, really?  You don’t even have something to base your time in space on a daily basis, you don’t know what is a day in the middle of nothing. Day is a planetary thing, not interstellar. Maps are not even in three dimensions, what is a “must-be” for any space travel simulation. Distances between “stars” are based on a flat map, like AS, what doesn’t make any sense when you think of interstellar space travel.

Why you think all people who play AS have to be here because of aviation? Ever thought about, that some people like to play a great economical simulation? I like games like transport tycoon etc., thats why I play AS, not because I like aviation. So why not expand this game to a new scenario?

It is a game ... dont think about such things and just have fun. It is an april fool for sure, but it is a great idea. But for a joke there was not enough time to translate all parts of the game into adequate technobabble ... if you dont like it, dont play it.

Sure it's a good idea. I'm just saying I couldn't play an interstellar travel simulation with a flat map and a weekly-based schedule. I'm glad AS team did not spend its time to make it look "real". It's only a joke and I'm totally okay with this. I just don't see any reason to really get a try on it, like some are trying, but that's my individual opinion.

As an economist who loves aviation and logistics, I’m here for both aviation and economic experience. I only thinks that some of us face this game as RPG like any other where you have to be the best no matter what, it doesn’t have to make sense.

By the way, I would love to play a shipsim! It’s a great idea. You could focus on passengers and cargo. Seriously, that’s an exprience I would like to have. But it would have to be monthly-based instead of weekly-based.

"km" refers to the "Kolvort Measure", named after the inventor of the first FTL drive. The unit was never officially accepted by the interstellar standardization bodies but remains in common use throughout the galaxy. One "km" roughly amounts to the distance Kolvort's prototype flew over the course of the first FTL flight.

The common time among all systems is UTC because man - when they left earth in the late 21st century - decided it would be easiest to keep this common denominator during the exodus and it just sticked.

The maps are rendered in 2D for convenience. Navigational systems of course take the 3D distances into account although they generally prove to be hardly relevant due to the flat nature of our galaxy.

Well. Ok, then. Poor Kolvort.

LOL

Shame bout the space world as I almost got excited when I saw it…..

Either way I see the team has put in some effort to get it up and running, is this a project for the future?

Not in it's current form. This was just a quick&dirty data mod and obviously nobody would buy it as a "serious" spaceline simulation since 98% of the game yell "airline simulation". But our next game will most likely have a sci-fi setting and also feature some transport component, so one could see it as a faint taste of things to come.

Yay ... great. I like this idea of Spacelime Sim. It offers a great scenario and is expandable ... and could be perfect for players who only want to play a economical simulation that isnt that serious and focused on realism like AS.

Oh don't get me wrong, but why would someone play an airline simulation if not for fun? Are you looking to start your own airline? Well if it's the case, I'm pretty sure you're in the wrong place! lol :D

I play this game for fun, so new things will be like a shiny pearl !!

WOW! really? just because you are not able to run the worlds biggest airline in the new world doesnt mean you have to dis it. Its ashame it was a joke but i think it could be a cool concept if they put some more time into it.

As long as the game also stays committed to its "bread and butter," the airline sim. That's why I'm here (and I'm enjoying it!).

Basically, we always have to do something else to stay committed to AirlineSim. Because AirlineSim is kind of like bread without the butter ;)
