I am attempting to use a DO 228 NG as a dedicated freighter on Free I. The aircraft is wholly owned and has had its seats removed, which to my understanding should classify it as a freighter with no size-based route restrictions. However, when I attempt to assign it to routes between airports with ten and three passenger demand bars, I am given a route restriction error. If I remember correctly, aircraft that can be “converted” by removing the seats should function as pure freighters, and I recall being able to make these kinds of routes work with the DHC-6-400 in a cargo configuration despite its identical route restrictions. Are the DHC-6 and DO 228 different in this regard, or is there something else I’m missing?
To be sure, did you convert the aircraft in the “conversion” tab?
Otherwise everything else sounds correct to me.
The “Conversion” tab presents no options, which I expected. Based on a previous post, I assumed that I should be able to “convert” the DO 228 by removing its seats since, like the DHC-6, the DO 228’s type page states that it can be converted.
Huh. I really don’t know. Perhaps another player or Martin will be able to help you.
If it’s working on the DHC-6, but not on the DO228NG, perhaps you’ve stumbled into a bug.
This might be a bug indeed. I’ll create a ticket for it and look into it for one of the next maintenance patches.
