Idea for Domination IX: AirlineSim rogue-like?

This is an idea I had yesterday: What if I added a small configuration option that allowed to restrict every player to only create a single holding in a game world…ever?

Meaning: Once you’ve created a holding, you can neither reset it nor delete and recreate a new one. You can of course create a subsidiary and reset that, but you’ll be limited to the initial 10 million AS$ (or 20, in case of Domination) for the whole run of the game world.

I created a little poll…let me know what you think!

How do you like the idea of a “single attempt game world”?

  • I like it!
  • I don’t like it!
  • I don’t care.

To anyone who has already voted: Due to a mistake on my end, the votes were lost. Please cast them again :grimacing:

Does this mean no loans, no growing and no profit?

No…why would that be?

What if the player bankrupts?

Made me think so…

Maybe my question was a little ridiculous

If it’s a holding: game over.

If it’s a subsidiary: Whatever cash is left after liquidation can be used to continue.

I’m against because when I start a new game, I often forget to disable the “comfort settings” that are more of an inconvenience than anything else. I need to be able to restart with the maintenance provider that I wanted and not to stick with the suboptimal default choice. Same with cabin configuration.

That should also be easily resolvable by creating a subsidiary, no?

What made you want this idea?

That’s a deep question. Does one “want” ideas? Ideas just…arrive, no? :joy:

So, this is just a random idea, right?

Given that more than 60% of voters were in favor or indifferent, I opted to give this a try and implemented the respective changes in time for the Domination restart on Monday.

Obviously, this will be an experiment, and if Domination shows it’s a bad idea, the option can be disabled/removed again in the future

I don’t like this idea at all.

I find the setup as it was to be an interesting version of a server in recent years. All that’s missing is more scrap metal and the stock market.
