Introducing AirlineSim Enhancement Suite BETA

Do you have any more background on these efforts/features?

I’ve been working hard to rewrite this extension. You can see some of this work in this development branch. I’d like to submit this to the store sometime in the coming months. Before then I’d like to rewrite most code. In part to port it to vanilla javascript and in part to make it easier for me to defend in the google store review process if necessary.

A lot of stuff also needs to be made more robust. Right now a lot of things break when a UI change is made. This is in part because most data that’s being written or read isn’t checked.

If other people are interested to join the project I’d welcome those with open arms!

It was a bit of conversation and an idea to attempt to get both AS extensions merged under 1 name and taking the best features from both while writing a V3 version for the play store and maybe having a V2 version for other browsers with users that were more privacy focused.

It was an idea that @Robert73 and I had to get yourself and @racsofp all together to make 1 definitive AS extension pulling features and adding with more collaboration. I got very busy and it fell to the back burner and I forgot about the idea until recently.

Realistically I doubt I’d have time to do much. But I would like to see a few people team up and make the extension that the community wants. That way in the future we wouldn’t be stuck with a half broken/working extension like AES did for a little while.

That would be great! What kind of things would you like to do?

Anything useful - testing, documentation, anything that doesn’t involve writing the code

I want to thank all of those that have reached out to me; your support is heartwarming and much appreciated! The last few weeks I’ve been hard at work to fix bugs and revamp some sections of the extension.

Some people have asked about collaboration and I’d love to do that. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we could coordinate this? Perhaps we can get a channel on the AirlineSim discord?

In the meantime, I’ve posted a pre-release of the next update. This should fix all NaN errors in the UI.

I’ve also been in contact with the original developer to sort out licensing; an important step in the open sourcing of this extension!

Sneak peek at some UI changes:

AES v0.6.8 is out and ready to use!

This update includes some bugfixes and general improvements. A lot of work has gone into making future development easier.

The release page linked above has the full changelog, some highlights:

  • Fixed an issue where the route management schedule couldn’t be updated
  • Fixed an issue where no new data was written from the inventory pages
  • AES now formats large numbers according to your localisation settings
  • Added a menu with helpful links related to AES
  • Added an about screen with some basic info related to AES

If you find any bugs please report them either here or on GitHub, thank you!

I’m not sure if this has been brought up or not but the chrome web link doesn’t appear to work, as it is doing the 404 not found.

How to install that package?

You can find installation guidance in the readme.

Let me know if you need any help.

thank you very much - I tried it that way but it did not work. Now trying it again, it worked…

There’s currently no Chrome Web Store version; that’s definitely planned though.

I’ll create a new topic soon to prevent confusion.

Might I ask for a better seperation in colors? Red is now very washed out and not really red. Don’t know where this happened but it has something to do with AES extension as I have not seen that color before I installed AES yesterday.

Thank you for the feedback. It was an attempt to make the text easier to read against the background. In doing so I’ve made it harder to differentiate between orange and red, my apologies. I’ll remove this from AES and continue working on my accessibility improvements behind a feature flag. Expect an update for this in the coming days.

You can track the status of this issue on github.

Hello,

Thanks again @Moiety for working on this incredible tool. I installed the v0.6.8 yesterday and noticed two things.

  • I update the Personnel data but the “No personnel salary update date found” message remains
  • When I update the data, the first line of the flight crew is not properly set and $965 is added instead of $10 to the country average.

[Update] the second issue got fixed by disabling the asx tool.

I attach two screenshot for you to check this out. I tried to uninstall the chrome extension, clear the cookies but the issue remains.

Again thanks so much for everything. This tool is a game changer for us

Hi, after installing 0.6.8 everything was fine but the noticed Bugs disdurbs me so i updating to this Version 0.6.9-beta.
But now some bugs are gone, but i got a new one or its just a problem with old Data?
As i start now to “extract flight finished & all profit/lost” i got no values. It shows me this error message:
"Flight Information

On the older Version it shows me the values with its bugs.

Is there any Updateprozess i should use…?

Greetings

Anyone know how to remove airlines already ceased operation from competitor overview?
