Why does LHR have no night curfew when the airport does have a curfew from 23:30 to 0430 and can only use the equivalent of 3 slots per hour during those hours and these slots are only ever used for extremely delayed arrivals
Although it seems like a curfew, it is not. (Heathrow Night Flights) I assume (with full understanding of what assuming makes me) that it is easier to use generalised cases rather than programming specifics for every airport out there.
There’s a drastic difference between “oh, it’s 0001 and you haven’t arrived yet, and your aircraft has another flight scheduled at 0600? Too bad, sucks to be you” and “it’s 0001, but you’re okay to land since your aircraft only emits X decibels so our neighbours will complain, but otherwise won’t be too inconvenienced.”
It is an effective curfew since it is limited by legislation which would only give AS 3 slots per hour pro rata for the year not the huge amount it now has. And in everyday use Heathrow does enforce it's own curfew effectively and it does sometimes suck to be you and off to LGW or STN you go and enjoy the bus to LHR.
The point is AS gives nearly 20% more slots to LHR than it actually has whilst artificially hobbling other European Hub airports for no reason.
Why can we expect to see LHR reflect very real and enforced curfew?
Because for as long as there is NO cerfew, there cannot be a cerfew in AS, a partial curfew cannot be implemented. (but I am not talking on behalf of AS Team, so maybe this is incorrect)
Please refrain from questioning personal motives and stick to the matter at hand, which is restrictions on slots at night at LHR. thx

If you say so; wasn't informed you became a moderator.
Should Gatwick and Stansted not be restricted too?
In any case, has there ever been a curfew imposed on a running world?
hahaha... I'm sure you would have heard ;)

YES. And LCY which should be closed all day Sunday since it is effectively half day only on Saturday and Sunday just reduce it for a day. Or effectively reduce all their slots by 25 to 33 percent since that would give the same rectifying effect.

If it makes you feel better, LCY appears to be an airline graveyard in my world. I know I'm just one of many who've tried and failed to make it work. The restrictions on movements make it very difficult to get the kind of hub up and running that the game requires, and AS doesn't (I think?) recognise the conveniance premiums to passengers from airports like LCY, LGA and DCA.
And as to the back up question about AS having a more generous LHR than in the real world, the answer to that is 'because it's a game'. It would be far too onerous (I'd imagine, though I've been surprised in the level of detail given to airports by the AS team) to have each and every airport's curfew laws tailored accordingly.

I fill two 787s to DCA and two more to IAD. I am sure that the demand is recognized to/from DCA because in reality there *would* be alot of capital to capital demand if it was not range restricted ;)

How do you handle the short runway length in LCY? I can't even get E-jets fully loaded to France.

Not LCY-DCA, but DCA and LGA to airports outside of its range restriction (that exists in real life).
For LCY, your best bet is a SSJ-100 since it needs 1200 meters to take off.

I have had a succesful LCY hub with around 120 planes, with destinations as far away as JFK (With the A300-600R HGW)!
