This topic comes up in the chatroom every so often so I figured I would post these screenshots in their own thread.
If you think you are losing money on cargo because of what the financial screen for the flight shows, you are not. If you are thinking of disabling cargo because of that screen, the results for the plane overall will not change very much.
Here are two screenshots to an identical flight. Same plane, same route, same time of day, same pricing, one day apart.
The first screenshot has cargo enabled and sold 4/133 units. The page says cargo lost $11k. You may think that if you disable cargo on that flight, your plane will make $11k more.
The screenshot shows the same exact flight the next day with cargo disabled. The final results for the flight are almost identical.
When you disable cargo, the expenses that were assigned to cargo are just reapportioned to the passenger cabins.
Screenshot #1, sold 4/133 units
Screenshot #2, the next day with cargo disabled.
Generally, the only reason to disable cargo is to shorten turnaround times.
