I am running an airline on an older server and recently I decided to switch my maintenance contractor in order to save some cost. I originally had Helvetic (lousy price, excellent quality, average efficiency) and now swithced to Amethyst (average price, quality, efficiency) but after the switch I am seeing a drastic increase in maintenance cost in the accounting page. Does anyone know what happened? Shouldn’t the cost go down?
FYI I did not introduce any new aircrafts and did not alter any of flight schedules right before and after switching the contractor, so I think we can rule out the most common causes.

Amethyst is probably the worst contractor you can have. Use another one. I recommend African or Avia, depending on what your needs are.

Don’t think too much about it, the maintenance cost formula is a bit broken and has been for the past 15 years.
It is a confusing area of the game - I am hoping that the new version they are working on has a better take on maintenance. For now Christian’s suggestions are both very good depending on the needs of your airline

Thanks guys…to think I actually swapped Helvetic for Amethyst, I now feel very dumb. Looking at the statement I could have turned around and made a profit this week if I hadn’t changed…
Do you guys think I should go back to Helvetic or try out Avia?

Airlimesim is a trial and error game, maybe you are lucky and it works (better) for you, maybe not.
Regarding your problems with Amethyst, I think it’s because things break faster with them (quality) and therefore the planes have to be repaired more often/longer and that is why it is more expensive in the end.
As others have written, the maintenance stuff is really broken/confusing.
