Tips for running a airline in Australia

I am doing well , in Australia at the moment my airline "National Australian" is doing alright.

But does anybody have any tips on how to maximise profits and load factors?

That is not hard, look my signature, you see my airlines

I advice you link between bog cities with big airlines for example 737-900.

In which do you play?

At the moment my finances can't really afford large aircraft like the a320 or 737-900 etc.

More operating embraer (mind spelling) services which are making at least 50% profit around $10,000 which is great.

I operate in Riem (I think that's what you meant?)

I see you restarted your airline. And you picked some popular destinations but why didn't you restart with CRJ's or dash's? You want the lowest cost per seat so you can maximize profits, and you want frequency as well, this will give you more chances for your flights to be in ORS. It is too early to have any idea of where you will be placed compared to others. Also, the routes you chosen to fly are very popular routes why the need for a 3 day delay? Now you only have 4 days to make enough to cover this week's end closing?

The aircraft will take time to arrive to the needed airport.

I was given advice that larger aircraft could increase my profit which at the moment it has done.

Obviously there is work to be done.

Just wondering , but what is the normal percentage and amount of profit you should make per flight?

There is no difference in ratings between Ejet/CRJ ad A320/B737. To keep the lowest possible cost and maximize revenue, in the beginning you need to minimize per seat cost, and maximize investment of your startup capital. CRJ/EJet are the best to start with in an ongoing server.

Edit: I have just run some numbers, and the best bang for buck is E195. It will give you 160 leisure seats at the lowest per seat cost, with the initial 10 MM investment. A320-200 light will give you 504 seats, 73G/319 will give you 552 seats but almost no money left for seat configs, so rather I would say you would get 414 seats, and 5x CRJ 1000 will give you 500 seats, 6x CRJ900 will give you 528 leisure seats. Similar proportions go for leisure plus seats. With comfort and comfort plus seats, E195 and A320 are on par.

This being said, I would definitely start with 5x E95 jets. Later on, these jets can be easily switched for B737/A320 series as the speed difference is minimal so the time difference on short sectors is just maybe a minute or two, and in worst case scenario you can use speed override. Just make sure you check out turnaround times at your stations for Ejets and for B737/A320 (on some smaller airports Ejets turn around faster, but at most airports they have the same turnaround time) and make any necessary adjustments/leave free space in your schedules.

Also do not go under 130% MR on Ejets if you plan to switch those flight plans to B737/A320 in the future, else you will get <100% MR on A320/B737 once you do switch the schedule.

I see it as very hard, I just did it some minutes ago switching an E195 whit 10 flights a day to a A321 which flies faster and has a 10 minute longer turnaround time so I had to compleatly remake the schedule.

As I wrote above,

When I schedule Ejets I actually schedule them on A320/737 (I usually have plenty of unscheduled aircraft, at least at my larger airlines) and then apply schedule to Ejets and adjust any overlaps if necessary This is pre-planning, and I am ready at any time to switch schedule from Ejets to A320/737 when demand warrants it.

But without any A320/737 in the fleet, the task is a bit more difficult, but not impossible, it is just necessary to run a route performance check on the performance tool for Ejet and 737/A320 and then apply the A320/737 turnaround time into the Ejet schedule.

And last thing, the different turnaround times between A320/737 on one side and Ejet/CR9-K/SSJ on the other side are present at only 2 out of 9 airport categories.

With this chart, it is not even necessary to run a performance tool on a route, all it takes is to check destination airport's category.

The image below is missing "very large airport" category, but it's the same turnaround as "large" or "mega" airport (60 minutes for both Ejet and A320).QHU1uNZ.png

Thanks these are great posts. ^

At the moment i'm operating 3 A320-200 Light (Enhanced) aircraft on major routes.

Profits are around $8,000 is that good turn around?

Some flights are suffering from poor load factor though , what actions should i take? Try adjust prices or ditch the route?

If you ask people for tips and don't ear them, it is normal that your airline does not run with success  :)

They told you to reset with CR7 or E195  ^_^

$ 8000 with an A320 is a poor result on a medium route...

And Australia is now totally saturated of airlines on Riem  :excl:

Just a sort off update.

My average profit per flight is around $11,000 - $12,000

a big improvement and massive profits are hitting the company.

Was so funny to receive from you ingame a "war stating" message  :) saying that you would come and compete with me

You don't need to say, just act ^_^

And it is better to get out his primary hub only when it is full to avoid the loss of connexions ;)

Have fun dude

War? I thought we only operate civilian aircraft! Such aggressive move, thanks for heads up!

Lining up air defense and scrambling the fighters now!
