I bid and won and auction and now i have scheduled some flights for it. So when will it start flying?
After you have activated the flightplan, your plane arrived in your hub - and then it takes 3 days booking period, after 3 days it will fly.
How do i activate my flight plan?
By pushing the bottom "activate flightplan"...
So I flew my plane to my Headquarters (JFK) and its been there Thursday, Friday, and today.
Will it fly tomorrow or today?
Also, I just activated my flight plan
Hi,
if you activated your schedule, your flights appear on the flight list page of your aircraft.
If you have installed seats and assigned pilots, the plane will take off and carry passengers.
You can activate a flight plan with immediate effect, in that case the plane will make its first flight the next day. If you activate with a three day delay, your first flight will be three days later.
Mind you... every airport calculates passenger demand once per day, and then passengers book tickets on the available flights. If you activate a scheule with three days delay, your plane will receive bookings three times. In most cases, this is the best thing to do. Only activate without delay if you know that the plane will be fully booked in one day.
Enjoy the game !

How do you know if you installed seats and if you have pilots?
I have pilots and seats.
However, I looked in the Flights section and there were none scheduled for my aircraft.
If the flight plan is in green color, that means everything is OK and the flights will start be booked to the flight plan.
But if after 5 minutes from activation you do not see flights, it is because you activated with 3-day delay.
If you activate flights with 3 day delay, the first flights will start showing up in your flight plan roughly 24 hours after you activate it (barring the fact the first departure would be later, e.g. you activate at 5pm right now but the next departure on the flight plan is at 8 pm, the first flight will show up on the flight plan around 8 pm tomorrow)
We forget how complicated this game is until a new player asks these things :-)
Does the wiki explain how to create flight numbers, set ticket prices and create a flight schedule ?

Yes, but the screenshots are a bit outdated.

I activated my flight plan for a flight from JFK to Boston on last Sunday, for Sunday 8:15 am departure. when will it fly?
Sunday 8:15 am...
If you have activated your flight plan on Sunday, then this flight will start end of this week.
The game is in real time. :)
My contracts for pilots are light blue.
It says owned: no, contract status: active
Does that still mean I have pilots?
Light blue? That is not the status of the pilots but says that you have leased the plane (if it would be green, the plane has been bought).
If you have pilots assigned to your planes, then next to your blue button (on the left) you will find "yes" in green. If there is a "no" in red, then you have not assigned pilots to your plane.
There's a yes
My plane's a CRJ 700
It's at my headquarters, JFK.
It was supposed top leave on a flight to boston today at 8:15 NYC time, but didnt.
I have pilots, service, seats.
I actvated my schedule and activated my flightplan yesterday evening.
What do i do?
Also, my little calendar in fleet management is green
As said before, it takes 3 days from the moment of activating the flightplan until your plane will depart the first time. You can see the date in the flight-overview.
To make things easier, please read this: http://community.airlinesim.aero/topic/8123-as-for-beginners-an-attempted-blog/
and search on youtube for tutorials.
The little calendar in fleet management is called "flight planning" and green indicates that you have activated your flightplan.
