What?
As the name suggests, allow to run game worlds with a time offset such that everything (or as many parts of the game as possible) reflect the current data time. This includes but is not limited to:
- Countries and their subdivisions (merges, splits, renaming, …)
- Aircraft registries (related to countries)
- Relative demand
- Absolute demand (based on economic indicators, population stats, etc.)
- Ground connections (adhering to political circumstances)
- Treaties, their members and potentially their terms
- Forbidden routes (for political reasons)
- Customs areas (primarily Schengen) and their members
- Airports and their sub-structures, should we decide to track those individually (terminals, runways, etc.)
- Aircraft Manufacturers (mergers, liquidations, etc.)
- Aircraft Types
Why?
Many players have a desire to play in historic game worlds, but the current way this is implemented falls way short. Right now, only the availability of aircraft types is really supported, and even that implementation has a few gaps (models being renamed, manufacturers changing etc.). Airports that have opening and/or closing dates will be ignored during data patches when they “do not exist” at the current data time, but that is about it.
When?
Handling this properly would be a dream come true for many, but it’s also a huge undertaking that might take years to complete. As such, this is highly speculative.
