Support Program for Beginners

well, simply refer to the first post in this thread.

with all due respect, but actually reading what the mentors write is sort of obligatory for the entire process.

I can help as well, English only, any regular server (no Quimby *) but preferably Fornebu and Idlewild and no trial accounts **

Fresh-from-the-mill beginners need to have watched AlfaPiOmega's Youtube video tutorials, at least 2 seasons out of 4.

(* No Quimby because the results of the help effort should last longer than the duration of a 3 months long gameworld)

(** You need this to show you are serious about the sim and also to access ORS, obviously)

(and I think FENCC01 is no longer with us here at AS)

rubiohiguey2000, do you still accept begginers? Tried sending you a private message, but forum says "user cannot receive new messages".

Will have to clean my inbox…what world are you in and what airline

My startup airline is Read Eagle Air in nicosia

Hi, I checked out your airline, you need to become premium member (purchase credits) otherwise you will not be able to access major parts of this sim for which premium membership is required. And without being able to access those area it's hard to mentor.

Also, have you watched AlfaPiOmega's tutorial videos to understand basic game mechanics, such as aircraft, scheduling, staff, pricing, etc.?

Great to find this kind of support; I'm very interested in getting some advice on Ellinikon, either in English (preferred) or German.

I've been around for about 6 weeks, and after several attempts I finally have my little niche airline which is profit making (after paying all leasing instalments). I have a subsidiary feeding into the main network which I am trying to make profitable as well, but advice would be welcome to take the next steps...

then, please, read this: AS for beginners

also, while I am not active on Ellinikon, I am available for tutoring. However, I do assume you have read the thread linked above if you accept.

Thanks Yukawa! Yes, I have read AS for beginners several times and am following quite a lot of your advice - it's invaluable!!

My airline is Boliro Airlines on Ellinikon.

oh well... you picked quite the challenge there, particularly for a beginner. The Fiji islands have a very small national market and you will need strong partners at the end of your routes to Australia and Asia. Maybe you can even get someone with a medium sized airline based in Indonesia or Australia to help you out.  right now, you only interline with yourself and one small carrier in Tahiti.

I also noticed you are scheduling your flights all over the place. this might work for direct flights to close by destinations as there's no competition whatsoever. Since the demand on those route doesn't allow you to build up a high frequency, there won't be enough potential connections for your medium haul flights to Australia and Oceania. You might want to establish a wave system.

you should also try to get inexpensive deals on aircrafts. since there is no competition you could consider leasing older but less expensive aircrafts from the used market. I have very little experience with that, though.

also, as much as I appreciate to see those airlines in very small niche markets, for the sake of your fun and expierence, I recommend choosing another market. You can always return to Fiji later on when you have more experience.

I know it's a difficult market. Thought it was actually quite easy to get where I am now compared to some earlier experiences in more established markets like Malaysia (I was probably doing even more wrong there!)

I will take your advice to keep looking for other opportunities though.

About a wave system: I know it's not a wave now, but by working with small planes and multiple flights a day I would think there's enough choice for pax to find their way. Is that how the ORS works? For example, demand from LBS (a remote Fijian island) to mainland AUS/NZ, via NAN, where there is only one daily flight to the AUS/NZ destination but 3 daily feeder to the NAN hub: will the system ensure that all passengers who require the connecting flight, will be on the right feeder flight to allow making the connection?

Thanks again for the advice!

I have an opportunity for mentoring on Idlewild and Fornebu, on Idlewild I can give you a nice head start in Antalya Turkey, I know the Turkey market well and the interested player can get acess to a tremendous knowledge, your airline can be profitable from the day one and have 60+ planes (used ones) in less than a month.

Consider me in, rubiohiguey2000!

pax consider connections with a max. transfer time of eight hours, but of course, the overall rating of a connection decreases with the time pax have to wait around at airports.

if you use three daily feeders, they are bound to be far from when the medium haul flight goes. also, serving every destination three days a day does not garantuee that all pax can connect.

so in your example, yes, they would pick the flight(s) that can connect, favoring the one that actually connects nicely (time-wise), leaving two aircrafts without a potential medium haul connection.

and regarding what rubiohiguey says: I can recommend Turkey as well. Great place, have had a major airline there. Not sure I would go for fornebu or idlewild, though.

any mentor available on riem?

started off with AS in the beginning of march, homebase DXB. i think i am doing not to bad as far as i can evaluate this, making profit and increasing margins steadily. but i guess some long-term strategy advice would be helpful. would be glad to receive at least some helpful hints...

world: Riem

AL: Spartan Airways (SS)

homebase: DXB

I've finally got throught AlfaPiOmega's tutorial videos as per rubiohiguey2000 advice. Anyone still willing to coach? Just started a small airlines at Cuba at Miegs world (HAV, Exotic Bird Wings). Making profit already,  but feel like I'm missing a lot in terms of long strategy....

I could mentor you on any server. Would prefer Stapleton as there I could keep an costant eye but I am quite famillar whit the Meigs market.

If you would move to Singapore on Stapleton I could offer you a very close partnership and in the future some cheap leases (please do not go to KUL on Stapleton). There is now one very newly started airline in Singapore (a week or so) but I have played whit the player quite many times and could give you some strategies and tips on how he builds his airlines. As I have said before I will not compleatly tell you what to do but I will lead you to what to do (I do not want to take away the fun of the game).

Otherwise I would also be very happy to mentor your current airline in Cuba on Meigs and I have some experience whit the cuban market.
